Invitation

And now, a bit of explanation :-). Since there's no way we're ever likely to have a real-space ceremony to renew our vows, we're decided to have a ceremony online where all of our friends can participate, and where we can play "what if" -- mainly, things like "What if we didn't have to worry about how much things cost, or if the venue was already booked for that day, or the weather is lousy, or how we were going to get friends here from other states?"

Those of us in the wedding party have been going through the planning process, such as the ladies choosing gowns. As guests, what we ask of you is simpler. On Feb 14, we'll be posting something like a "live blog" of the events of the day as we imagine them happening. We're asking our guests to come by either on the 14th or soon after (we know that schedules differ, so any time over the following week or so is fine) and share the day with us, much as if you were attending a real-space ceremony. Leave comments where you feel so inclined, and at the very least sign the "guest book" by posting comments on that tab. One of the reasons we're doing this on Blogger is that no sign-in is required to post comments (but please do at least put a name in the "Name/URL" option, so we know who posted).

Since we're sending our invitations by electronic means, rather than RSVPs we're looking for "return receipts" -- we would like to know who may not have seen this so we can try different means of reaching friends.

We wish we were able to hold a big to-do and treat all of our friends to a big party, but since we can't we're hoping you'll at least join us for this virtual shindig :-).
